game of life / get up, girl

the white-tee plainness of the afternoon
begs me to find balance between hush & noise

one eye chases temporary death,
one eye shuffles through playing cards

seeking something, anything,
to make me feel wanted, half-alive.

clothes take the place of rugs,
reminiscent of the obstacles in my midst.

with no energy for hopscotch,
& no will to gamify disorder

my body retracts into bed, stretched play-doh
pulling itself back into a single mass,

eager to be whole
