Geneviève White
Montreal-born artist Genevieve White, currently living in Berlin, is honing her skills at painting after her ten years living and exhibiting in NYC. After finishing her Master’s Degree at Parsons University in NY, she exhibited extensively.
She is interested in the dynamic play and poetic potential of colors in abstract painting. She blends onto the surface of the painting: colors, lines and textures that evoke and search for a balance and dance between emotion, structure, and intuition. Her exploration and never-ending fascination for this dialogue between the paint and her deep desire to understand human connections ends up on the canvas as a surface of vibrating colors meeting and brushing against each other. Her abstract paintings emerge and are inspired by nature and the people she knows personally, and the feelings they evoke.
Pneumonia
Untangible stars
Drift in that lung
As dark as night sky
Abnormalities in time and space dwell
Dancing, happy to infiltrate
The skin
Needles in and out
Sliver of light climbing up the bone
The spine crooked
A clear water liquid collected
Pure, cold and fresh
Life from the brain
The wisdom’s body ignored
Invited the pain inside to live
Love trapped in a heart
Too big to contain
Frivolous stories of souls too close
Birds singing
Eyes closed
Light seeping
Miracle melodies
Kept the consciousness alive
That mother of four
Scared, fragile
Tense and alone
Warrior like
Her courage embodied inside her stomach, creating stones
Imagining a lover’s hand in hers while the needle goes in
No one there, emotions run the show
Body shivers
Chills and soft legs
No Moon to honour the collapse
Birds, bless them
Pure softness of tones
Healing that light sensitivity
Between her brain and heart
Coherence in the colours of the curtain
Gave sanity an entry
Green hues, purples and yellows
Hope on the rise
The will killed
Arise, leave the fire of the mind in that secret hospital room
