Anna Nygren
Anna Nygren is an autistic, queer, and neuroqueer writer, artist, and translator. They are currently at work on a piece about fish, neurodivergence, hospitals, and ideas of what a Good Life is. Fish is Anna’s un-secret passion and love and belonging, a project of life, a utopian alliance of vulnerabilities. Maybe there will be a huge Fish-Thing in the future, a Gesamtkunstwerk not-yet-imaginable, a revolution of oceans, or maybe it will only be this little massive love love love. Nygren lives in Gothenburg, Sweden, with their cat, Zlatan.
when the millennium
were only
3 years old
the helpful helpers
built a stair for the salmon
living in the lake
next to the hospital
the salmon eyes
on my body jumping
in wheelchair wheeled
by mothers and
the takers of care
next to the river
they gave me the name
anorexia
to put next to my name
anna
the anna the anno the year of the fish eating fish
eating flesh eating me
the rex is
the royal the dinosaur queen
my body i wanted to feel
like bones buried in the lake
as a cave for the salmon
the fish like a plant a seed to grow in the lake
to play in the stair
to be careful to put my shit together
to tube-feed my anger
when the salmon look at me
do you see me
as a cave a home a hidden place
when the mother said strangers look at me
do you see a bad mother, un-caring for a starving child
fucking me up
my brain is a starved seaweed creation
in the night i ask the fishes:
hello
are you there
?
